Tamenglong

Tamenglong functions as the district headquarters of the Tamenglong District in the Indian state of Manipur. It can easily be accessible through road transportation system. The entire region of Tamenglong contains hills, mountain ranges and slender valleys. There are small picturesque villages present on the summit of these hills. 

Owing to the orogenic movement during the time period of Cretaceous and Eocene, this region was constructed. The rocks that are found here are mostly sandstone, shale and schist. During the monsoon time, this region is very much prone to landslides due to the delicate characteristics of the rocks and the steep slope of the hills. 

The terrain of the entire region is rising and falling. All the spectacular characteristics of an undulating landscape are present within this small region. One can get mesmerized with the tumultuous waters, the boisterous waterfalls, the shadowy caves, the magical wild lakes, numerous rocks forming various intriguing shapes, the encircling dense plush green forests and many more wonderful elements of nature. Much of the parts of this region are still untouched. 

Many a historical locations are present in and around Tamenglong. Zeilad, Inroujei, Guiphuapjei and Napsaemjei are the names of the four numbers of lakes that are present here. At a distance of 2 Kms from this place, the Barak Waterfall is situated. One should definitely go and visit the lakes as well as the waterfall.

Tharon cave: The distance between Tamenglong and the Tharon cave is 27 Kms. At the main entry point, there is the map of the complete cave, which has been carved and then colored on a stone.

Zeilad Lake: Many a number of pythons, fishes and birds, which live in water, are present in the vicinity of the great Zeilad Lake. It is situated in Makoi. Guiphop Zei, Nrou Zei, Nap-sam Zei, Inroujei are the names of the other lakes that are located close by. 

Buning (N-piulong): On the western part of the panoramic town of Tamei contains the Buning meadow. Throughout the entire stretch of the area, one can witness the unequal mounts and many a number of shining creeks. One can bask in the glory of the magical orchids, the different wild lilies during the month of June and also enjoy the various chirping sounds of the birds, the howling of foxes.
