It is a scenic and secluded village filled with vast expanse of mountain ranges, lush greenery and revered religious activities. This is an amazing village hill station which is a part of valley, popularly expressed as ‘Soar’ at an altitude of 1650 meters above the sea level. It is a majestic hilly town which is located at a tiny valley belongs to Pithogarh district in Uttarkhand. It is one of the hot tourist destination blessed with panoramic views of astonishing downhill landscapes and lush green mountain ranges. It also acts as a gateway of Himalayas from North. The famous religious tour called Kailash Manasarovar Yatra passes through this region. It is also a good location for adventurous sports like trekking and skiing. It is rich in flora and fauna and a paradise for nature lovers, botanists and mountaineers. Dhwaj Shikhar, Thal Kedar, Kapileshwar Mahadev Temple and Chandak Hills are other attractions of Pithoragarh.

It is devoted to lord Shiva, located around 3 km from center of the town. The Soar valley and majestic Himalayan peaks are very much seen from this place. There are many tunnels in the cave which leads to temple are usually closed.

It is a sacred Shaivite pilgrimage center, devoted to lord Shiva and located around 15 km from Pithoragarh It is a fantastic trekking trail from Pithoragarh to reach the temple.

Arjuneswar temple, Munshyari, Nagmandir of Berinag, Pithoragarh fort and Askot Santuary are other well-known places.

Pithoragarh has excellent ski slopes; especially in Betuli Dhar one can find amazing slopes. Chiplakot is another awesome skiing spot at an altitude of 3090 meters from sea level.

It provides adventurous trekking trails to adventure buffs. There are several hilly terrains, plains and slopes which offer variety of trekking experience. 

Pantnagar domestic airport is the nearest one, around 250 km from Pithoragarh.

Tanakpur railway station is the nearest one, located at a distance of 150 km from Pithoragarh.

There are plenty of buses which connect Pithoragarh to many major cities of Uttarkhand, including Almora, Haldwani and Kathagodam.

In summer 15 – 30 C and in winter 0 – 24 C, it is best visited from March to June and September to December.
