OMKARESHWAR
Omkareshwar located in the state of Madhya Pradesh is one of the prime pilgrimage centre for the Hindus and is famed for housing one of the 12 Jyotirlinga temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temples are named Jyotirlanga as there is a strong belief by the people that the revered Shiva gave darshan to his faithful devotees in the form of light.

Omkareshwar consist of two giant Vindhya and Satpura mountains and a spectacular deep gorge where silent waters of river Narmada flows gorgeously. The valley divides the hills so sensationally that the spectator looking down will get an illusion of witnessing the Hindu symbol ‘OM’. Hence Omkareshwar gets its name. Amareshwar is also a prime devotional centre where pilgrims from many places flock in large numbers to seek the blessings of the Lord.

Omkareshwar Temple : This is the famous Shiva temple which is stunningly located at the confluence of Kaveri and Narmada rivers.
Ahilyeshwar Temple : Located on the banks of river Narmada, this Shiva temple with extraordinary natural surroundings attracts the visitors with its artistic grandeur. Domes and spires form the main attractions of this shrine.
Jaleshwar Temple : Lord Shiva is worshipped as The Lord of Water here. Historians believe that, Shiva tied the Ganges in his hair mat to protect the earth from the floods caused by the gushing waters of the river.
Kashi Vishvanath Temple : This is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga temples with brilliant architectural prodigy constructed by Queen Ahilyabai of the Holkar empire. The temple is visited by large number of devotees. People believe that god will spread happiness in the hearts and minds of the people and guide them to move in the right direction.
Maheshwar : This temple town earlier called Mahishmati was the capital city of the king Kartivarjun. Situated by the side of river Narmada, Maheshwar has its named referred in the great historic saga of Ramayan and Mahabharat. This place rose to the heights of glory during the rule of Rani Ahilyabai.
Pandrinath Temple : Is a prime temple located in Maheshwar where Lord Vishnu is the main deity.
Rajarajeshwara Temple : This lovely shrine is located at close distance to the popular Ahilyeshwar temple.
Shri Omkar Mandhata : This temple built of soft stone captivates the onlookers with its exclusive roof paintings and carvings.
Siddhanath Temple : The temple besieges the visitors with its Brahminic style. The elephant beautifully carved on the stone is the main attraction here.
Satmatrika Temple : This ancient temple which is estimated to be built around 10th century is about 6 kms from Omkareshwar.
