KHONSA

 

 Khonsa, a lovely place that evokes tremendous excitement is located in Tirap district, Arunachal Pradesh. Plain land is very hard to find and the topography is made up of deep forests, glittering gorges, Rivers, big and small mountains.  One of the most interesting explorations is the visit the Khonsa waterfalls. You feel out of the world as you get into the thick jungles with the help of the local tribes nodding to the sweet singing of the birds, the brushing of the tree leaves against your face will give you a feel as if the forest is acknowledging you for visiting it. After a trek in the narrow and quite dangerous path you will get to see the cool and illuminating waters jump from a great height, which is a good repayment for your effort.  The tribal art and handicrafts are displayed in the Khonsa museum. When you visit Khonsa never miss a chance to watch the Jaam and Kiko Khoam which are the popular sport if the local tribes.

 Dirubhgar in Assam has the closest airbase and railway station. It is about 215 kms far. Buses are also available from Tinsukia.
