Khajjiar

Khajjiar is frequently called as Indias Switzerland due to its dainty beauty and it is situated at an altitude of 1960m.  It is gifted with its rolling meadows, majestic deodars, foaming streams and the sheer luxuriousness of its natural glory. This place has a 12th century temple which is devoted to KhajjI Nag. Inside the temple are full size wooden sculptures of the five Pandavas brothers. Grazing crowd of sheep, goats and other milch cattle confront perfect Arcadian scenery. There is a minuscule lake in the middle of the saucer shaped meadow which has in it a drifting island.  The landscape of Khajjiar is beautiful and a photographers delectation.

PLACES TO VISIT

Khajinag temple
It is a golden-domes ancient temple in Khajjiar. This temple is a small enshrine devoted to local goddess or Devi. Worshippers visiting the Chamba Valley often come to this temple.

The Lake
It is a small lake set in the hustling green turf. One gets out of the car to go to the lake but the ground seems to give way. The earth is spongy due to dense growth of weed.

Nine-Hole Golf course
A nine-hole golf course is an additional attraction at Khajjiar.

Subhash Baoli
This place is situated at 1km from G.P.O is a, glorious natural place called Subash Baoli. Netaji Subash Chandra Bose during his seven months visit in Dalhousie in 1937 is trusted to have spent most of his days by the side of this water body, contemplating among thick forests of Cedar and meeting his party workers.

Laxmi Narayan Temple
This temple is devoted to Lord Vishnu and was constructed more than 150 years ago. The temple enshrines a charming effigy of Lord Vishnu.

St.Francis Church
This Catholic Church is a very eminent memorial on the Subash Chowk. This church was built in 1894 from the donations made by Army and Civil Officers and Civilians.

The closest railway station is at Pathankot at a distance of 120km.

Khajjiar is well connected by and it is situated at 26km from Delhi and 24km from Chamba.
