It is a beautiful historical town, located at the lap of magnificent Himalayas. It holds the fame of being one of the oldest cities of India. The prettiest town is the headquarters of Uttarkhand. The picturesque beauty of this place is further enhanced by parks, rambling gardens, temples and verdant landscapes. The hilly terrain is expressed as abode of Drona, one of the popular characters in Mahabharatha. There are several legends about this place. It is expressed as Zonal Museum, established in 1971 and located on the way to Haridwar. It depicts the origin of customs, cultural and physical anthropology of Himalays.

Dehradun has its own airport called Jolly Grant, around 20 km from the city center.

Dehradun has a major railway junction which connects to almost all major Indian states.

There are plenty of buses available to reach Dehradun by various nearby towns and cities of Uttarkhand.
