GB Thanda stands for Gummula Banda Thanda. This is a tribal (Lambadi) hamlet under Kodakandla Grampanchayat. Around 200 families leading their life here. The population is about 450. The main occupation of the people is rain-fed agriculture that lead to poor economic status. All the families have small land holdings and works in their fields in co-ordination during peak agriculture season. The GB Thanda has a primary school with 2 teaching staff for class I to V. The literacy rate in young generation is very high compare to old. GB thanda has created a history in Kodakandla Mandal by producing the first Engineer among the Kodakandla Mandal by name Gugulothu Cheena who always topped the school from class I. currently he leading as outsatnding Engineer in Defence Ministry.The youth has got employment in different sectors like Banking, State Transport, Teaching, Social Welfare etc., across the state and country. The youth who stayed in Thanda are generating self employment by running auto rickshaw services and agriculture related equipments.The thanda people recognized education as important aspect of their life as inspired by the first Engineer of Thanda who laid the path for education.
