OverView of Mudur
Mudur Village by name itself means in tamil "Pazhamaiyana Oooru" and it was a flourishing agricultural village once depended solely on irrigation through Lakes. These Lakes were getting water through monsoon and also through the nearby rivers from Tiruttani ( Kosasthalayar)through canals dug up exclusively for getting water when rains were not plenty. The temperature in the village is very hot almost throughout the year and except for three to four months in a year . The villages seems to have been there for many years and precise dates were not available on the formation of the village and going by the word of mouth it can be 1000-1100 years old as the Perumal Temple were constructed some 500 years back by the Siddhars.Main occupation of the Villagers are Agriculture and also currently weaving as a small scale industry.
The village is as good as other villages but the population of the villages covers the manpower requirements to the adjoining villages and more labour force from these villages are utlised by the neighbouring villages for Agriculture and Weaving.
The village has 3 temples 1.Venugopalaswamy Temple which is stated to be the oldest Vaishnavaite Shrines which was constructed by Siddhars some 400-500 years back, 2. Small Siva Temple adjoining the current Higher elementary School which was in dilapidated condition were rectified and reconstructed by the Villagers especially by one retired teacher Kulothungan. 3. Draupadi Amman Temple which was celebrating every year with Mahabaratha reading and with Therukoothu and Theemidhi Thiruvizha.
Currently the Village School which was having till 10th Standard is upgraded to 12th Standard and the first batch of students are yet to complete +1 this Year( 2011-12 Academic year) and many of the surrounding villages are dependent on this school for their +2 requirements.
