OverView of Baderi

History

Baderi was a jagir of Baghela dynasty of Rewah riyasat. The jagir of baderi includes 28 villages with nearby town of Umaria. It was under the ruling of Lodhis (Malgujars), later on it was conquered by Baghels. This jagir was granted by Maharaja Vikramaditya of rewah to one of his grandson Ranmat Singh, son of Raja Angad Singh of Chandia thikana. The first ruler of baderi was Thakur Ranmat Singh Baghel. Some claims that he have special blessings of Maa Durga who guides and protect him, so he alone defeated hundreds of lodhis in battel.

Fortress (Garhi) of Baderi is situated on some height in mid of village, it had four siege towers (known as Kothis) out of which only one is remaining. Fortress has three courtyard having three different gods Kal Bhairav, Narshimha and Kuldevta respectively.

Nand Mahal is made by Ranmat Singh Ji as a temporary residence on a hill which is totally demolished, later on the Goddess (mentioned above) is known as Nandmahal mata. Nowadays, the hill is very famous for its magnificent temple and its beautiful location.
