CHASSAD village is one of the oldest village of the Kukis. there's a long history beneath but only some of it could be found in the history book of the Kuki. Chassad is a Kuki town connected with Tangkhul Town i,e. Kamjong. This two town form together a common name Chassad Kamjong. The Kuki and the Tangkhul's live here together in peace and harmony. There Assam Rifles also set up its Headquaters at this town. The climate of chassad is so nice that you could feel every types of climate, like.. u could see a thick fog covering the whole village, and clear bule sky during October to march, sometimes in winter you woke up with all your gardens and grasses covering with white ice snow. But you won't be too surprise to find out that Rainy seasons lasted form May till second week of October mostly every year. Travelling from Imphal to Chassad is quite memorable, you will negotiate high mountains, steppes, beautiful landscape,and some places to stop by which offer unique local foods. some of the places are ;Litan, Lambui, Gamnom,shangshak etc. The roads are well maintained and you can see the BRO(border road organisation) staff on the way, doing thir best to keep the road smooth and safe for travelling. The Distance form Imphal to Chassad Kamjong is approx. 90 to 100 km. Chassad kamjong is also the Second Largest Town in Ukhrul District next to Main Ukhrul town.
