Thumbur: My Beautiful village
Thumbur is a beautiful village in Polur Taulk, Tiruvannamalai District, Tamilnadu, South India.
Life: The people in thumbur are mostly Farmers. they depend on the agriculture. in total populationof the village 60% are Hindus and 40 % people are Roman Catholics. people live in harmony.
Education: There is primary school in the village and Palvadi school for the small children. The children go to Susainagar( 3 Km and there is no bus between Thumbur and Susi nagar, the children walk or go by Cycle.) or Deviakapuram(6 Km) for High school Studies. But it is difficult for the children to go and come. Some of the children are studying in the Boarding like Susai Nagar, Pathiavaram, Ranipet, Chetpet, Pallikonda etc. It is pity to notice that most of the youngsters are containing their higher studies. In 2011, there 7 youngsters are doing their college studies, but due economy problem, they are travelling by bus daily which is not condicive for their higher studies. The people must feel the need of education. we hope the bette the future. Because inconvenient conveyance there are lot school drop-outs, illiteracy and consequently unemployment.
Religion: we have a very ancient Temple but now they are building new Temple. it is good sign for people's Faith. Among the Christians we have 65 years old St.Dominic Savio Chapel. it needs attention of the Parish priest and people. The Pentecost Christian influence has to be avoided because it is good for the people that there is unity and understanding. division among Christians will pave way for disunity in the future.
For bettement of the Village:
the following are very important for the village
1. The children have study not only schooling but also Higher education. only Education can liberate them.
2. Drinking habit in the village has to be eradicated. Alcohol has to be completely banned.
3. Environment awareness has to be given to the people. like planting trees in the streets. Removing the house wastage from the road-side, cleaning drainage ahs to be done regularly.
4. A community Hall for the people is must.
5. Bus facility to Susainagar is a must for the children to go school.
Priests have built a very beautiful, fabulous church in Thumbur. Our Church Name is "Our Lady of Intercession Church". People are leading a a very faithful Life there. Every Saturday Women are having "Mariayin Senai". Every Sunday holy Mass followed by Catechism class for the children.
There are lot of changes in Thumbur from 2012 on wards. There are many students going for colleges. Many Finished their PG Degree and working. People in the village recognized only education can make their Life Beautiful.
We hope for the bette future. Let us educate our children and march towards to bright future.
