Nungadang is a name given by outsiders especially meitei, the imphal valley people to the Goitang village since established in time immemorial. It located in the southern part of the second largest valley in Manipur state called Khoupum valley. The village is dwell with a schedule tribe, the economic backward class The Rongmei/ Ruangmei tribe. Culturally rich with dance, song, ornaments, costume under a traditional religion and cult. At present the world is grew into smaller by improvement of transport and communication. The village is the first black topped village in Khoupum sub division. Education system are almost excellent both formal and non formal education institution set up for numerious decades. Goitang Primary school, Duithanjang Junior high school, Gaijinlong primary schools, Lungjana Primary school and English Boarding High School of Govt and private institutions respectively. Lireracy rate is about to cross 99 percent. Adult education centre, anganwadi centres in all hemlets. Public distribution sysytem are operated in Fair price shop cover 5 village of Goitang centre. Our traditional custom and religion now decline due to conversion of christian religion day by day. Some of the prominent sects are Seventh Day Adventist, Roman Catholic and baptist. Non christian believers are in Tingkauh Ragang Chapriak( TRC) tranform religion toward hinduism. The assembly of Yaweh, Benei Isreal too non christian religion profess in the village. Village economy is living like hand to mouth condition base on agriculture. Cash crop like king chilly are most popular on account of production in the state for more than 20 years. Jhum cultivation continuous depend on forest now area is so limited and could no longer to produce remarkable bulk products. Average per week about 2000 tins of king chilly still dominate in sub divisional level. Horticulture farm orange, banana, lemon, jack fruits, plum, mango, pears, gauva etc gown in the village. Winter crops too practice but due to irregularities of cattle control tough to the cultivators. Public health engineering dept brought some water supply scheme but not effective operation in the village. The mal practices of the contractors and official give lost of mutual trust to the concern department. Sanitation programme almost 75 percent of household gain the scheme Sanilatary latrine called swachh bharat mission. Health facility are provided by an ASHAs voluntarily in this sector. Electricity one of the most important in post modern world regular in winter season. Most of the seasons were neglected. The most important reason behind this is lack of manpower in forest dwelling region. It is commendable to implement prepaid sustem in the village.
