Vellikatti : This is early called Kilavudi pallam, Name which called Vellikatti there is oral story behind it but no proof, story stating that, there is big problem between two group and announced in public that who can able to resolve problem, they can reward as a bullion bar ( In Tamil Vellikatti), One man, who belong to this village and resolved the problem and got Bullion Bar henceforth, Kilavudi pallam called Vellikatti.
In earlier villager who supported Maruthu Brother's When they were fight against British rule and provided food and other materials to Maruthu brother's during their fled life. Mr. Muthurveerlan Servai who aided to Mr. Maruthu Brother during the regime refereed by Author Mr. Metha in his book.
This is a small and oldest hamlet under the rule of Maruthu Brother's . It is located in bank of Manimutharu( Manimuthu river) and surrounded five lake. The people who living in unique community called thevar ( Agamudayar- Servai) and few family of schedule communities also there, but most of Schedule community people migrated to Urudhikottai as service provided to Maruthu Brother's nominated ruling king at Uruthikottai .Folk are into cultivate agriculture like paddy,grains and sugar cane. There is few freedom fighter and participated and supported under the leadership of Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar.
There is very old and auspicious temple called Sri Malayala Bhagavathi Amman. Folk are celebrate Molappari function once in a year for Mariamman.
