OverView of Nilaguda
NILAGUDA is a small village contains 50 and five families including new colony (2019). It is a place which is located at the valleys of two big mountains which are in the east part of Gudari Block of Rayagada district. It is remote area and surrounded by Mountains in the East and West. I (Anant Kimbaka) feel that it is just like Jerusalem which is also surrounded by Mountains. Its distance from Gudari Block is 13K.M. It comes under Kadama grampanchait 4K.M.far from Nilaguda. There are some villages which are surrounding to this village they're Khairaguda in the East and Kadama, Kharikuti, and Makaguda in the West, and Merendha, Kandha Chakunda which is near to Badanal Dam, in the North and Parikupuda in the North-East. This village people depend on the natural source for their own survival and their main occupation is cultivation of paddy and cultivating pea plants and Cashew trees in the Jungle. They live happy life as one family. The whole villagers are one clan known as "KIMBAKA" belong to the Kandha tribe. They have unity in diversity because they conduct any programs (marriage or child dedication, or celebrations and festivals) together. They help each other and solve each other's problems together by summoning all people together. They worship the Living God Whom they believe as their Creator and Savior of their lives before this they were worshipping the nature as other tribes do today. Before 1990,there were no one who was educated but after 1990, there was a rise of educational spirit among them that's how we can find today most of them (today's generations) are educated. Even there was no any transport facilities for communications. The way paved road to communicate after 2000. Now there you can find the pitchu road that connects to main roads and every surrounding villages. People from Nilaguda go to Gudari for marketing because Gudari is only one place that is near to this village for marketing. It is 12/13 KM distance from Nilaguda. They depend on this city for all kinds of marketing and business. Until 2014, They used to go on foot, but now a days there are some facilities of vehicles through which people go by for marketing.
Still people of Nilaguda are to develop though there are some development process improving gradually. Government should keep notice on these tribal people's lives how they struggle for life to get their daily bread. Because they're so poor economically to maintain their households.
