Argaon is a beautiful village located in konkan near Lanja Taluka. It is the said that Long long years ago it was the village of guruvs who were the main habitat Later Maharudraji khamkar who came from wai won the this village with his quick wittiness and bravery as his land. Few years later this village was kept as mortgage land to repay the debts. Again,Few years later Maha Yesajibaba repayed all the debts and cleared the land he had 3 brothers.With the passage of time each brother had their kids and families and started staying separately in Same village and their generation went on increasing then wadis were created khali wadi, madhli waad, Fauzdarwadi and varil wadi, It is said that as generation went on increasing the son of these four brother found these wawdis and started living. All the festivals and cultural programmes related to gramin devasthan is celebrated together with great enthusiasm by these three wadis.People here are lovable and deeply rooted with their spirituality.There are Three Main Temple in the village the First MOst important devasthan is Shree Kedarling which is said to be avtar of shree shankar (Jyotiba) it is the main gram devat of the villagers whole and soul of every villager. The Murti of God Kedarling is mesmerising and with that other murtis are there in the temple with his panch tatva. The other temple is Maruti mandir which is built in recent era.One more temple which is in madhli wadi is shree Gangeshwar temple it is a Swayambhu Shivling Mahadev mandir. Ladies are strictly not allowed in the premises. It is said that once Bhagwan shiv gave darshan to his devotee who was very much fond of him he use to sit there and do chanting there.
There are other wadis also but not of khamkars surname it is kunbiwad, bodhwadi, there are other temple too in these wadis such as vithalrakumai mandir, datta mandir, ganpati mandir, Once u enter the border of the village there is vitla devi or seema devi u can recognise it by tall and strange tree under which place be created to sit like structure with stones.
The whole village is of Khamkars and history is worth listening. One can truly experience the spiritual well being and also tureness and can get to hear many such wonderful mesmerising experiences of people relatinng to God. The God is very lovable and truly listens to the prayers of his children He is the one who is concerned and take care of us we believe .one can come and experience it The main festivals are "Shimga" which falls during holi wherein palki of shree kedarling baba is carried at every places and every villagers home, The other festival tipripornima again the festival of kedarling it is in diwali the temple and Palki of bhagwan kedarling is taken out an played also the temple is lightened up completely. Ganpatii festival is celebrated with super enthusiasm, then Gudipadwa, hanuman jayanti. etc.
