Ancient history of GunavadThe most ancient Gunavantika Dham (present Gunavad)
This was not the city of Malwa region of ancient India but was the most ancient archaeological monastery built in the valley on the banks of river Maleni in the forest area where penance and religious activities were done by sages and saints. Gunavantika is directly related to Avantikanath, a contemporary of King Rajadhiraj Maharaj Chakravati Emperor Vikramaditya Parmar of Ujjain, it is said that the number of gods and goddesses present in Ujjainiya (Ujjain) are present in the Siddha area of Gunavad, even today Ujjaini is not celebrated here, there is a temple in this Siddha area whose Shivling is similar to that of King Maharaj Mahakal, there is no evidence of this, when was it built and who built it?,
First Temple- Bhimlochan Mahadev (Shiva)
It is a popular belief that the temple dedicated to Lord Shiva has come flying here. There are 24 pillars in this temple. Out of which 4 people believe that these pillars decide the sins and virtues of people. They say that if a person passes through the pillars situated here, he is considered a pious soul. If a person is unable to pass through even after being thin, then it is said that his sins are coming in the way. The entire temple is made of stones, its structure reflects the architecture of the Parmar period. There is also a cave behind this temple, it is a popular belief that it leads directly to Ujjain, once upon a time one could go inside it but now the cave had to be closed due to some reason.
Second Temple- Shri Hinglaj Mata
The ancient Shakti Peeth of Mahamaya Hinglaj Mata is situated on a hill near Gunavda. This Shakti Peeth is one of the 52 Shakti Peethas of India. This is the only temple in Madhya Pradesh. This is a replica of the Hinglaj Mata Temple in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan (on the India-Pakistan border). In the form of Jyoti, Maa takes three forms in a day. The Shiv Shakti Peeth Mata Mandir of Gunavda is contemporary of Parmar. The temple of Maa and Shiv situated here is miraculous. During Navaratri, devotees from the region and other places come here with faith and hope.
Belief: Wishes are fulfilled in 30 days
It is believed that whoever comes here, his every wish is fulfilled in 30 days. Especially if a woman makes a Swastika behind the temple to get a child, then Mata ji definitely fulfills her wish. This Shakti Peeth was related to Sailana state during the princely era. Since that time, due to the importance of this temple, more than 60 bigha of agricultural land was given as a jagir by King Shri Mant Jaswant Singh Sailana state for worship and maintenance. The worship of the temple is done by the Mahant of the monastery. This place is very ancient and worth seeing and is also important from the religious and tourism point of view. This place was discovered by the Archaeological Department. Many ancient idols were also found on the hill here. These include Joganiya Mata, Kaal Bhairav, Ganpati Ji, Nandi Ji, Hanuman Ji and many Charanpadukas and many such idols have been found broken in the Siddha area.
3rd Place- Monastery Valley
The monastery is situated on the bank of the Maleni river. It is a popular belief that this is the same monastery which was the karmabhoomi of the Mahant Sadhus and saints in ancient times. Even today, coal is found during excavations here. Looking at it, it seems that many big Yagya Adhisthans and religious activities were held here. Even today, many ancient Samadhis are present in the monastery. One of them is popularly believed to be a place where an ascetic Naga Sadhu did penance by standing on one leg and at the same place, the Naga Sadhu also attained Samadhi alive. But at present, these are not being maintained, due to which this place is forgetting its heritage.
Fourth place - Siddha Kshetra Gunvantika
The most ancient city of Gunavantika which was once the forest land of work of sages and saints, many temples were found during excavation in its Siddha area, which used to be a part of Sailana state during the princely era, whose monastery and temples used to be looked after by the Maharaja.
In which 60 bigha is for Shivshakti Peeth Hinglaj Mata Temple.
40 bigha for Sanwaliya Ji temple.
15 bighas for Ram temple.
5 bigha for Ram Janaki temple.
And there are many temples of Khedaapati Hanuman, Veer Hanuman, Kalika Mata, Ganpatiji, Shitala Mata, Ramdevji, Devnarayan, Durgamata, Bhaisasur Mata ji, Tejaji Maharaj and other gods and goddesses for which many different rules have been made for their maintenance.
There was a river, a step well and 2 wells in the Siddh area which once supplied water to the village. Someone's Kul Bhairav is enthroned inside the step well. But at present the step well is not being maintained and is filled with garbage and the oldest step well is forgetting its civilization.
At present, it has become a big village where the present Mahant family of the monastery and many castes and communities have come and settled, including Rajputs, Jats, Bhils, Gayaris and other castes.
Despite being an ancient city, present Gunavad is making its name and the country proud in many fields. It is the village of players who have reached the national level in the game of Kabaddi. It is also the birthplace of brave sons, who have given 40 brave sons to the country who are still protecting the Indian border.
Two sons of this motherland have sacrificed everything in the protection of Mother India.

After independence, Gunavad used to supply water to Ratlam, which is now supplying water to 14 villages. For this, 1 filter plant and 2 small dams have been built on the Maleni river.
