OverView of Somangurthy
The village got its name from the lord Someshwara who is the deity of the village. Somangurthy is one of the big villages of Pudur Mandal of Rangareddy District. There are few worth seeing places near the village.Importent among them are Raama Theertham also known as Neella Chelima means the pond of water and Raakamacherla .We can find the water flowing from a pond through out the year and there are idols of Lord Sree Ram,Hanuman and God Shiva. This place is located in a thick forest about 0.5 km from the village. We can enjoy a lot by seeing the greenery,hills and varieties of birds and wild animals such as rabbits,foxes,wolves etc. There is no temple for Ram ,Shiva or Hanman and attempts are being made by the villagers to construct a small temple.
Raakam charla, the Temple of Lord Yogaananda Laxmi Nrusimha swamy is just 3.00 km away from somangurthy village. It is 68 km away from Hyderabad and 13.00 km away from Pargi town.This place can be reached by RTC bus from Pargi, Hyderabad and Vikarabad. The place is famous for its scenic beauty. A Stream flows nearby the temple and there is a mango garden with about 1000 varieties of groves in it. One can have darshan of the lord by climbing about 150 steps.
The temple is located on a small hillock and the Deity is said to be very powerful. The Idols of the Lord Nrusimha, Hanman , Naaga and Garuda are made by Black ants and not by any human being.These ants can be seen at the feet of the Lord through out the year .Rathostava is performed on Pournami of Visakha Maasa every year. Thousands of devotees participate in the Utsava and worship the Lord.
Saint Venkatadaasa worshipped the Lord and composed thousands of the Keertanas which are as famous as that of Bhadrachala Ramadas. His Vigraha can be seen on the right side of the lord.There are several other small temples at the feet of the hillock.
