Kothlapur is a beautiful Village in the Marpally Mandal Which is very nearer to mandal head quarter. This village got this name by Urdu word Kothwal, means a Police Officer who designated in Nizam era. Kothwal the police officer resided here to perform his duty in Nizam Government. People called Kothwalpur it habitually changed as Kothlapur. It is one of the big village in Marpally Mandal. It has nearly about 5000 population and 3000 voters. Most people of Village depend on agriculture,and it depend on rain, there are no any water sources for agriculture. People of this village are very religious and traditional, lion part of the people are Hindus. They celebrate all festival very traditionally. This village has a famous temple of sri "Siddeshwara Swami" the other name of lord Shiva.every year devotees of this village perform Jathara (Celebrations in the name of God). All kinds of people participate in this occasion. Hindu, Muslim and Christians are lived together. Jawari (Sorgam),cotton,green gram. red gram.Tobacco, black gram,Bengali gram and maize are main crops they cultivate. The main food of this village is bread and rice. Literacy percentage of this village is very less. High School and Primary Schools are helping to literature. Very good transport facility connected to this village a panchayathraj road leads to this village it direct connected from state capital.
