OverView of Boras
BORAS is an important landmark in the history of Bhopal State's merger into the independent India.On 14th January 1949, the police of Nawab Bhopal fired on the unarmed people hoisting the national tricolor in the Makar Sankranti fair at the bank of Narmada river at Boras. Four martyrs who were actually hoisting the flag were gunned down. The national tricolor was soiled by the blood of those martyrs. This was the only incidence of this kind in the country which resounded over the world thru the media. Sardar Patel then intervened, eradicated the Nawabi regime to merge the pro-Pakistan Bhopal State to the Indian republic.
