OverView of Pomawa

Pomawa is very beautiful village located near sumerpur.It is formed by Late. Shri Thakur Ashkaran singhji in 1628. Here  people live very friendly.there are all caste people living  here.Rajputs are in large number.today also people are living in there culture.there is a beautiful temple of lord shiva which  is known as Bhuriya baba.people gather time to time to discuss about situations.the uniqueness of this village is that there is a historic Fort built in 16th century by the then Thakur sahab. And The present village headmen or zamindar is Thakur khuman Singh Ranawat.and famous cuisine there is Laal Maas And Kher Sangri.Pomawa is such a jagir which included 15 villages before independence.And capital of Thikana of pomawa was pomawa itself.And there is a mansion also there built by Thakur Dheer Singh Ji in the year around 19th century.Animals here are Bluebull,Deer,Crocodile and Leopards.And major occupation is agriculture and crops grown are Maize,Barley,Wheat etc.First Thakur of Pomawa was Thakur Askaran Singh Ji.He took Pomawa by defeating the local ruler who was harassing the punishing the village people. Thakur Askaran singh was grandson of Maharajah Sardul singh ji(brother of maharana pratap) of Gorwar. Maharajah Sardul Singh Ji lost his life in battle of Haldighati while fighting  Mughal Forces with Maharana Pratap.And there is a another  famous temple also there in the outskirts of village known as bhomiyoji bawsi  built by Thakur Dheer Singh Ji.Temple is named after Thakur Bhom singh Ji who sacrificed his life for saving the village.And according to history jagir of pomawa fought a war with jagir of Bankli in the year 1824.War was fought because the king of bankli wanted to have complete authority over the area of pomawa and other villages under its jagir.And he also wanted to harass the citizens of pomawa and also wanted to seize their cattle and crops.But Thakur Saheb Sardul singh ji of Pomawa with his brave soldiers fought the war bravely and defeated the king of Bankli.The war happened with Bankli village around the holi festival, in which Punawat Rathore(Chunda) Rajput and Ranawat Sirdars of Pomawa attained martyrdom, among the Rathore soldiers Shambusinghji Rathore, Lalsinghji Rathore and Jaitsinghji Deora Chauhan fought on the battlefield.  This Shows that how brave were the people of pomawa were.And one of the sons of Thakur Askaran Singh Ji moved to kanpura village in pali and established his supremacy by defeating the local rulers.Villages around Pomawa are Galthani, Mordoo,Purara etc.and Major things to see are temples of Gods and goddesses. And Safari at jawai and jungle area near Pomawa. And Heritage Havelis and 18th century Houses of Village Seths.Onother thing is that near The village area there are farm houses from where you can get fresh vegetables and bath in Hod which is a local name for a small swimming pool.The river flowing through Pomawa is Jawai.
