This village is famous in the khammam District because of famous Sri LAKSHMI NARASIMHA SWAMY TEMPLE LOCATED here.This temple was constructed by late sri Maddigunta Thirupataiah S/o Basavaiah,resident of this village.Now it is the under management of Sri Maddigunta Narasimha Rao S/o late Sri Thirupataiah, who has been recognized as Founder Trustee by the Endowment Department.Daily number of devotees visiting this Temple.
As per village elders information once upon a time these area was covered with bushes of GARA plants and area is near a hill. So people used to call this area as GARA VODDU,which consequently becomes as GARLAVODDU. this village may be divided in to three parts.(1) THANDA (MUNGALI THANDA--VENUKA THANDA),(2)VOORU (3)GUDEM). Here all communities people are living.Half of of the people belongs to Schedule Tribe.This village has no special panchayat entity. It's continuing as Hamlet village of Enkoor Gram panchayanth.The main occupation of the villagers is Agriculture.This village is known for political conscious in the Enkoor Mandal.
