OverView of Taradipal

Taradipal is a revenue village cum Gram panchayat consists of 7 padas i.e. Ramanayakdia, Gopalpur, Pokharikul, Nathasahi, Chhata (Biswal sahi), Tulasidia & Ghagaradia. The main occupation of the villagers are cultivation & local business. There is a famous picnic spot named Jharabana on the bank of river Brahmani. Also several temples are in Taradipal, out of which Radhangai thakurani temple, Hanuman temple Gopalpur, Mahadev temple of Biswalsahi & Sanischar temple Tulasidia are the noted one. Apart from this there are two Ashrams named Jayguru Ashram (maintained by Mr. Kusadhwaj Biswal) & Bana Babaji Matha (Maintained by Mr. Phaka Biswal) Tulasidia. There are two High schools named Taradipal High School & Malatidevi Girls' High School. Also 3 M.E. school and 7 U.P. Schools are there. The population of Taradipal is around 6000. Most of them are Khandayats, Brahmins, Oilman, Barber, Yadavs, Yogis & schedule castes. The literacy percent of the village is 72%. The renowned Palla Gayaka Late Harekrishna Nath was from this village, who was awarded as "Gayaka Ratna". The first sarpunch of the G P was Late Abhay Ch. Parida, who was elected 2 consecutive terms (1984-1989 & 1991-1996). This G P is subdivided from Alapua G P in 1983. The main festival of the village is Raja parv. Through out Odisha the Raja parv is celebrated 3 days, except this village. The villagers celebrate this festival for 5 days. The last 2 days are delegated to Lord Akhandalmani and these 2 days are known as 'Manika Raja'.

Another notable 'Matha' is there on the bank of Brahmani is SIDHHA MAHAPURUSA near Jharabana. People of all locality attend the statue of Mahapurusa on daily basis. There is a legend behind this, as many years ago there was a Sadhu by unknown name took shelter under the banyan tree (which one is still there) & start meditation there himself without food & water. The late Haun Parida of Ramanayakdia was the main disciple of the sadhu. He was serving the sadhu with great reverence. Even in the evening some miracles was presented by the sadhu, for which the late Haun Parida was the eye witness. Without any roof the sadhu was taking shelter under the tree. At that time some wild animals were there at Jharabana, which was very close to the banyan tree. But after arrival of the sadhu there was no causality from the wild animals end. But the last moment of the veteran sadhu is still not disclosed. According to the old age persons of Ramanayakadia, on a Sankrani Sadhu went to river Brahmani for morning bath and did nit return. Some people of Ghagaradia says that the same day they have seen sadhu was walking inside river towards Ghagara. Hence each sankranti is celebrated there with a great devotion and 'prasad sevan'. Even now a days also each year on Rahasa Purnima the inheritor of late Suksdev Nayak's family offer the 'habishyanna' for all. Who he may be come to the morning Habishy never goes in empty hand. Never it is noted that, the 'prasad' is exhausted and people are wait of prasad sevan out side. when devotees completed their prasad sevan (bhojan) then the main priest took the prasad. Those who are coming for a picnic Jharabana, first they will take a darshan of the Mahapurusa and offer one gharshana (Panchamruta mix pasted on the forehead of the statue) and then proceed for picnic.
