The village Haripur is under Sukinda TehsilLate Harekrushna Bhuyan took birthday on 23rd January 1903 in the village Haripur. He was a freedom fighter, social worker, social reformer. He has established Mahadev high school in the year 1959. He was also instrumental for establishing minor schools at Haripur and Hatibari. He had built Mandirs, Jajna ghar, weekly market etc in the village. He was Sarpanch of Haripur for three consecutive terms after independence. People were calling him as Hari Babu. The name village was Bodheipal earlier. It was changed to Haripur after his name. He breathed his last on 27th January 1981.
Alumni Association of Mahadev High school, Haripur, will celebrate Diamond Jubilee of the school from 3rd to 5th November 2023.
Harekrishna Bhuyan was a great Social Worker, Social reformer of this region and was called as Gandhi of this area. Cladded with white Dhoti, Kurta and a white Jhula, he looks like Gandhiji. Born on 23rd January 1903 in this village, which was known as 'Bodheipal' then. Later on the village was known after his name as Haripur. He was known as Hari Babu in this region. His father's name is Karuni Bhuyan and Mother's name is Santani Bhuyan. His wife's name is Navi Bhuyan. He has three daughters. He had adopted one son known as Gopinath Bhuyan.
