Origin of polur Polur hill is the one of the branch of western ghats hill Station in Kodaikanal region. elevation of polur is 1850 meter (6150 feet) above mean sea level. It's older than the Himalayas. western ghats formed 15 crores year before. Earlier Sangam literature this villages were mentioned in 'kurinji thinai' (habitation of hills) where mentioned 'pugalur' copper plates have mentioned this village in history. Before the formation of village polur, some tribal people have been living on here. During 13 century AD pandya's kingdom defeated by Vijayanagar empire. When madurai came down to them who were Telugu speaking people who had Vijayanagar Kingdom. under their territory Madurai ruled by Nayak dynasty various rulers. During the Nayak dynasty rulers who were enhanced thier territory to explore the hill station. Obviously, they colonised Kodaikanal hills with migrated some family groups with 7 degrees (7pattam) given to them who they were lived in Madurai region.that's the way 7 families with Telugu speaking people who were migrated from madurai. And some families migrated from present kerala region. such families manipulation of their generation. some nomadic families exit to some places.
