The state of Bihar in India comprises of thirty-eight districts, out of which Rohtas District is one. It is a component of the Patna Division. The terrain of this small region is diverse in nature. Along the length of the Kaimur Range and Rohtas Plateau, smooth and level plains are situated. In Madhya Pradesh the Son River begins, which is a tributary of the Ganges. This Son River forms the productive and prolific flood plain of the district. In the recent past, Kaimur Ranges mountains and hills were adorned with dense woods. This Kaimur Range is Vindhya Ranges extension. For fuel purposes, the trees, which would be used as firewood, have been cut down in huge numbers. A present participant in the Red Corridor, Rohtas has great productive lands. As a result of this, the region is inhabited by a lot many people.
Rohtas History
Sasaram is the administrative headquarters of the district. It is a location having significance from historical point of view. Above the Sone River, two bridges were constructed, which runs side by side. As a road, one of the two bridges was made. The other one was for railway purposes. These two parallel bridges is an establishment, in which our country seeks pride in. In Asia, the longest bridge was considered to be the bridge constructed above the river Sone; however this record was then replaced by the creation of the Mahatma Gandhi Setu above the Ganga River at Patna. The rank of the second longest railway bridge in India is held by the Nehru Setu, which the other bridges over the river Sone. The Rohtasgarh Fort is situated in the district. From the medieval era, this fort is considered to be one of the toughest and sturdiest forts.
Rohtas Climate
Similar to the climatic conditions in the North India, Sub-tropical weather prevails in the district of Rohtas. The summer months are hot and arid. The nights of the winter months experience cold temperatures. Agriculture is the backbone of the districts economy, thus making the monsoon a must for the district.
