Kurula is a Telegu Kalingi dominant village. several other caste people also residing in the village. The GP head quarter is located in the village is named after the main village called Kurula. The other community people like- Brahmins, fisherman, Carpenter, weavers, washer man communit people are living in the village. Kurula if famous for the ancestral goddess named Kurulai. There are other tagging villages nearby the village called Naibandha, Baisipal and Mahirakana. This village celebrates Hara Gouri Puja once in three year. There was a girls ups school closed recently as it was not properly funded by the education department, also the school was not poorly managed by the school management. In the recent past the government school which was established to offer education to SCs is closed by the government.
The village is predominantly depends on agriculture farming beside agriculture lot many families are depending on on daily labour.The village situated on the bank of Ghodahada River. In Geography this is a island, the other side of the village is surrounded by Andhuni Nala. Both Andhuni and Ghodahada river causing flood in rainy season. This is socially, educationally backward village. The character of the village is sporadic, there is no pre dominant occupation signifies the identity of the village. The fertility quality of the land is good but having acidic soil due to large scale application of chemical and fertilizer use. The entire land is owned by only 20% families and rest others are landless people. The highest land owners are accepted as village leaders irrespective of not considering their ability to lead the village. There is always a divisional politics going on in the village.
