Scared Places Of Akingam A Akingam is surrounded by many heritage and sacred sites. It has oldest jamia masjid (Bonagam), biggest jamia pethgam, ziyarat sharief Sata Reshi Sahib andziyarat shareef of famous Islamic saint shah-i-asrar(RA). It was given the status of tourist village by jk govt with a well established tourist centre. A village called Mohripora next to Akingam used to have Kashmiri Pandits Bhand performers but they left the village in 1990. The people of Akingam are deeply Sufi and philosophical in outlook.Famous Shrine of Jagad Amba Shri Shiva Bhagwati is situated at 250 meters (approx) from jammu and kashmir bank, Akingam. The shrineof Goddess Shiva is situated at the top of the village near the foot hills of a big forest full of lush green Devdar trees and valvet like pastures. The sanctity of the shrinecan be guessed from the fact that it is the one among the only four shrines of the state of Jammu and Kashmir that has been assigned a chunk of forest land as Jagir which stands within its revenue records.
