Bengali is the local language here. Most of the residents are Bengalies with surname, Chatterjee, Banerjee, Mukherjee, Chakrabortry, Paramanik, Bouri, Mahato, etc. The main festival of the village is Kaalipuja, Godess Kaali is being worshipped here since 1740 AD. The history of the village started in 1733 AD when Maharaja of Padma late Bishan Singh donated Pathatkatta mouza to Bishwanath Chattopadhyay (Chatterjee), a poor Brahman of Patuli village, Burdwan district (W.B.) who migrated with his family and brought a Bandyopadhyay (Banerjeee) boy as his son-in-law.  During Kaalipuja so many cultural programmes, like Bengali Jatra, Theatre, etc. are being organised here. Youth Club, Pathuria was established in the year 1970 which is a cultural rendezvous of the locality. Durga puja is another festival which is also celebrated here.

Pathuria is the village which has produced first matriculate, graduate and masters degree holder in the locality.  Pathuria post office and middle school were established during British reign.  Pathuria High School was established by the villagers in the fifties which was later on taken over by Bihar Government in the seventies and now it is an inter college.  The village Pathuria has also given first IIT-an, IAS, IIM, Bank Officers, etc, besides so many employees of SAIL, CIL, NTPC, DVC, State & Central Government.
