The old name of Bhikampur village was Vikrampur, because King Veer Vikramaditya was born here. The highlight of the village is an ancient shiv temple, which is around ~2100 years old. According to local stories, King Vikramaditya did his tapasya/shadhna in this temple. The temple has two levels - one at the ground level and the other one underground, with shivalingas at both levels. The underground cave is open for visitors, though the passage is narrow. Its believed that a surang (underground tunnel) connects this cave to Raja Bhurthari cave in Ujjain. Many shiv devotees visit this ancient temple on shiv-ratri and throughout the duration of Saavan (on mondays). The temple is also visited by devotees on kaavad yatra each year. The village is located on the bank of river Bagari. Bhikampur can be reached from Nagda Junction (railway station) or from Khachrod, both of them are 9 kilometers away from the village.
