Thodikana village and its surrounding area was the Tapobhumi /Tapovana of Sri Kanva Maharshi ,the Rigveda Mantra Drishtara and Pravartaka (founder) of Kaanva Shakha of Shukla Yajurveda .Sri Mallikarjuna Temple was constructed on Tapobhumi / Tapovana of Sri Kanva Maharshi .In the temple at south east direction there is Kanva Maharshi Yajna Kunda. The Agni /fire lit by Sri Kanva Maharshi is still preserved by temple Archakas which is highly appreciable .The temple authorities have taken all steps to keep the temple premises very clean and to protect the tradition.
