Ekma, the name denotes "ONE MOTHER". A remote village having all features to be an ideal place to live. Maa Samaleswari temple has it's own glory no less than any renowned temple in odisha. It is said "Mother Goddess is OMNIPOTENT, OMNISCIENT.

Today Wednesday, 13th of June 2018, witnessed the darkest day in the life of this village. Mr. Latit Mohan Purohit, a renowned agricultural activist,  a lawyer and a great socialist passed away at the age of 79. He gave his whole life towards the betterment and uplifting the poor people of the area. He has sacrificed his whole life to the development of the village Ekma and towards the whole Sundargarh district.

Graduated from Ravenshaw college, Cuttackand after completing his Law he served some year in the Bar at Highcourt in Cuttack.  Then he decided to utilise his knowledge and wealth towards the service to the poor. He fought many legal cases for the poor without taking a single penny from the victims. He was also a great literature. His creation " Chakorira Shesha Ratri" got many appreciations among the contemporary readers. He himself started his journey towards the service of the poor  alone and thousands of followers joined the movement. The man was of high conviction and he put the village Ekma from a position of unknown rural and deprived village to a developed village now. He donated his paternal properties like land for the building of schools and hospital in the village. He donated land for free to many poor villagers.
