Village Jatana was established about 300 years(approx.1715-20) ago. An elder named Uber Mangat from adjoining village Rampur established this village. There are two pattis in the village named after two elders Widhia and Dandu. The farming families are from Mangat clan. The village has Senior Sec. School, Govt. Health Centre, Agri. Coop. Society, Post Office, two Sikh Gurdwaras, one Shiv Temple and one Muslim mosque. There is complete religious harmony among its residents. Nearby market for daily needs is Doraha(3 kms.) and around thirteen branches of commercial banks within a radius of four kilometers. The main occupation of the people is farming and jobs in Govt. and private sector. The village has richly contributed for the nation by providing over 150 youths in armed forces in the past, which included officers, JCOs and other ranks. One officer rose to the rank of Brigadier. Sarvashri Jagat Singh, Parkash Chand Angrish, Jagir Singh, Babu Piara Singh, Surinderpal Angrish, Baljit Singh, Amrik Singh, Bikram Singh, Smt. Harpal Kaur, Smt. Harwinder Kaur and Smt. Chhinder Kaur served as Sarpanches of the village in the past since Independence. Overall, this village can be called a progressive village having good economic resources.
