Aliha is large village consisting of three hamlet- Bada Aliha, Jena Sahi and Sana Aliha. The origin of the name of Aliha probably dates back to post Gohira tikiri Battle in 1568 AD between Kalapahad, the General of Suleiman Karrani, The Bengal Governor and King Mukund Dev, the last King of Surya dynasty and last independent King of Odisha.

The Muslim Rulers renamed the existing villages surrounding the battle field including this village,Viz, Allah, Sunni, Mohammadpur, Piripur, Dobol, Jahangir etc. The ancient name of Aliha village couldn't be traced due to lack of evidence. The rename given as Allah during this period went on changing to Alia and then to Aliha. Even in British period land revenue record it was stated as Alia.

The deity is called Alihashwori being derived from present village name Aliha. Earlier She was called Thakurani or Grama devati. The deity is as old as the village. The temple name is called Alihashwori temple. It is a famous in Bhadrak District as Shakti temple and Tirth Sthala and sacred place of worship. Nearby Dharmeshwar Temple is situated. It came up during 1990s. A large congregation occurs in this place for worship during Makar samkranti, Dolo Purnima, Durga Puja and on 23rd June every year.
