OverView of Ankara
Ankara, a small village situated in Amethi District of Faizabad division comes under Jagdishpur block and under jurisdiction of Bazaar Shukl (Kotwali). Basically it is about 90kms from the state capital Lucknow and about 50kms from the Administrative Division 'Faizabad'. The name Ankara is quite unique in its self, although it's origin is uncertain, some people believe that it's a kind of grass which was found here and was called 'Ankhra', while some others believe that the name had been adopted from the capital of Turkey 'Ankara'.Ankara is the Grampanchayat comprising of one minor hamlet called-'Pure Lala', dominated by scheduled castes, and the other being a minor village named- ' Shahpur-Aulad Hussain'- Dominated by upper caste Muslims. In total these three villages house distinct caste and class, from people owning more than five-six cars to people who not even possess a bicycle. Although the people of this village are to the most extent co-operative and live in Harmony with one another. If we go through political perspective you will find domination of a single Family of Bhalesultans (Formerly Khatriya Rajputs) and presently Muslims. (Bhalesultans-it is kshtriya caste which started it's voluntary conversion to islamic fold during the time of Emperor Sher Shah Suri, the then emperor of Indian subcontinent. The Bhalesultans also took active part in 'Revolt of 1857' and fought a chivalrous battle near 'Kadhunala'. Bhalesultans are famed of their bravery and Uncompromising devotion for their cause). Educationally -The place has till now shown low growth rate though you can find several graduates now but none had done a feat to be acknowledged. The children lack the zeal for education and related activities, may be due lack of guidance and the intellectual framework of the society which is required to breed an Educated class of youth. Politically- The recent developments in the Grampanchayat elections all over the state made quite negative ramifications on the social fabric of rural areas, the IN-COMPETITION among the rural elites have led to clashes amongst them leading to hostile environments crusading the very harmony of the society. The candidates make use of every kind of tactics to polarise votes resulting into formation of many Groups supporting different candidates for their own distinct agendas; Same is the case of Ankara.
Agriculturally-The land is quite fertile and productive suitable for almost all kinds crops vegetables and fruits. Wheat and Paddy are common crops harvested on seasonal basis , although vegetables are also grown by the indigenous 'Murai' community. You can also find some mango Orchids in the vicinity. Most people are dependent on Agriculture and related activities, although milch yielding livestock is also supplementary to support the families during idle part times. Irrigation system is developed to some extent, however canal irrigation is the main means of watering the fields.
Economy:- Majority are either landowning agriculturists Or the sharecroppers Or the agricultural labourers. People also provide masonary and labour service in the construction work to earn extra income when they are not involved in farming.
Some families are quite Prosperous, thanks to the opportunities created by urban cities. Many families live in Surat (a textile hub) , where they make thier fortune in the industrial sector. Also, many people have migrated to Middle Eastern countries in search of high earning jobs. Quite a few people also own shops in nearby areas.
So, apart from all the limitations and achievements there is always a spirit of progress which keeps a society in motion, Incidentally, Ankara too shows such signs of progressive and ambitious attitudes which are significant for a living Society.
