OverView of Sirsoti
Location: Sirsoti is located just outside NTPC Rihand Township towards Waidhan Road. MGR railway track of NTPC Rihand is passing through this village. Social Work: Navodaya Mission, an NGO has been working for the education of children of this village since 2010. Because of its effort, the education level of children have greatly improved. It coached students mostly tribal girl children for polytechnic entrance exam. It conducted Sirsoti Khel Mahakumbh in year 2012 and because of continuous effort, this year two teams of Kho-Kho got selected in state level sport competition. It is currently running Navodaya Mission Pustakalaya.
Recently Meera Learning Center as community classrooms amid Covid Pandemic are started at Sirsoti by Navodaya Mission. One such center is in the premise of Brahmnishtha Ashram and another is at Adhuara. Ganga Prasad has taken special interest for operating these centers.
Due to vision of Shanta Kumar, alumni of IIT Bombay and founder of Navodaya Mission, residents of Sirsoti have started recognising importance of education. Under his idea of "Navodaya Guru" for awareness among the people, more than 21 boys and girls appeared in the polytechnic exam. Janardan Singh and Bulbul Kumar got selected in JEECUP-2016. Janardan Singh got gov. polytechnic college, Kanpur and Bulbul got seat in gov. girl polytechnic college, Lucknow. Such successes will help these children to come out from vicious cycle of poverty. Both are first boy and first girl from their village to crack this exam.
