Chitariya name was derived between 100 to 150 years ago, GHOGHARA'S came from the village named 'Deval Gabdi' which is located in dungarpur district of rajasthan.
Ninama's are highest in population , followed by Ghoghara's.
When they came to chitariya, it was totally a forest. In between this village there was a small hilly area in which a "WILD CHEETAH" lived there, so the ghoghara's named this village as a "Chitariya".
Chitariya is mainly a "TRIBAL" area ,but many other people like carpenter, black smith, Raval and Barot aslo lives there.
The tribals who lives in chitariya includes, GHOGHARA, NINAMA, KHARADI, BUVAL, HELA, BALEVIYA, NADA, KATARA, etc.
They are descendants of bhils and rajputs, and known as “Aadivasi dungari
garasiya”
Garasiya means, who lives in hilly areas.
Their main occupation is farming, and main festival is “Holi” and “Diwali.”
The carpenter’s of chitariya are famous in its surrounding area of Bhiloda, Vijaynagar, and Chithoda.
The major event which takes place every year in chitariya is “Mela” in Holi
festival.
