OverView of Ladhurka

Ladhurka is a very old and prosperous village. its recorded history goes back to the Kushan dynasty. a lot of archeological structure were unearthed from this village but for the lack of proper conservation from the administration maximum of them are stolen. Around Chandeswar Shiva temple some of them are still can be seen. the word Ladhurka is a combination of two words Lodh and Arhka. lodh or lodha is a primitive tribal group and arhka in their language means children. though now a day there are not a single lodha family in the village yet their eords dieties and festivals some how remains till now. From our family chronology I came to know that the Bramhins came to this village during the reign of Alivardi Khan from East Bengal. They were given zamindari here as once the local tenamts burnt one of the revenue collector of the nawbab along with his horse. the name of that revenue collector was Baidyanath Bandyopadhyay and that field is still called Ghora Purar Math. then his widow was given this village and adjacent area including kalabuni hullung dapang and belabahal mouza as compensation. The Mukherjees chatteterjees and choedhuris were brought by the banerjees through marriage of there daughters in different timed. the priest families were brought from deoghar Bihar to look after the temples established by the banerjees and patroned by the royal families of Gary Panchakot. Phelaram Bandyopadhyay was a well known scholar and astrologer of his time. During British period they established Neel Kuthi in this village and It witness the armed revolution under the leadership of RAM Kumar Mukhopadhyay. Netaji and Gandhiji both visited this village. after independence Sudhir Kumar Bandyopadhyay elected MLC he was an AICC member also many communist leaders took shelter in this village during emergency. Communism was made populer here during that time. Harikinkar banerjee tapan banerjee Bhabani Chowdhury were the prominent communist leaders from this villsge. Hari Kinkar Banerjee was elected President of a leftist trade union in railways. Later on a well number of party supporter left the party under the leadership of Jayanta Banerjee to form a new left democratic political party PDS. Presently maximum of the villagers have migrated to the various parts of the country as well as world and only a percentage remain there. There are two high schools 8 primary schools bank post office hospital telephone exchange market play ground and many clubes in the village. Durga Puja is the main social festivals here. Durga puja of the upar para sarvojanin was first started by the Banerjees more than 300 hundred years ago. today the village holds ten Durga Puja Pandals. and still today all Ladhurkans wish to join the puja there around the globe. Yatra or drama is an essential part of Durga Puja Festival here. Navami night. is. reserved for NYSS upar para. Other notable. festivals are Charak Makar Vadu Tusu Kalipuja and Saraswati Puja.
