OverView of Panigaun
1. The name of village PANIGAUN goes by two words PANI ( water) + GAUN (village). In olden days there were total 56 deep wells and several big TALABs( water resorviours) in this vilage. These wells, ponds and semi-lakes were dug by villagers. These water sources were created for human use and irrigation of the agricultural fields.The SARDA SAHAYAK NAHAR ( sarda canal was ready for irrigation needs only in 1961). This would indicate laborious attitude of villagers and care for their land property and ulimate riching.
2. There are total 22 small villages (locally called PURVA) in this village. PURVA are the small- caste- centered- domicils like brahimins, ahirs, kurmis, musalmans, gadariyas, mourays, churihars, parihars etc ( author begs pardon for caste names reciting). The village was under KALAKANKAR Riysat ( Rajkumari Ratna Singh, Member of Parliament belong to riyasat) during british period. The main road between Pratapgarh ( District HQ) and Kalakankar Riysat passes through this village. The formation of village, if be related to surroundings ( small court, school, police station, hospital, temples etc) may suggest to year 1901. The culture of village is dominated by AWADH, AYODHYA, KASHI, PRAYAG culture. Main ocupation in the olden days was agriculture, very few in british police services, railway, postal deptt, teachers etc. People were also visiting to Calcutta, Karanchi, Bhusawal, Sonepat etc for earning their livlihood. With passage of time, simple families turned educated, dynamic, progressive and looked for opportunities globally.
4. Village is not remarkably unique. Festivals like Holi, Deepawali, Dushehara are celebrated in most cultured and hormonious way. On Rakshabandhan day DUNGALs ( wrestling competitions) are organised .
