OverView of Bhatani
The name "Bhatani" is made of two hindi words Bhat and Ani which means an army of worriors. The village is dominated by Chauhan Rajputs, who migrated from Ajmer to Mainpuri during Mughal period. Chauhan Rajputs are descendants of Prithviraj Chauhan, the King of Ajmer. Raja Tej Singh was the king of Mainpuri and Bhatani Chauhans are his younger brother's lineage.
The village accomodate other castes like Nai, Dheemar,Kachhi, Bari,Dhobi, Dhanuk and Valmiki etc. All these castes live in a hormony. Main ocuupation of the villagers is Agriculture. Wheat, Rice, Potato, Garlic and ground nut are major crops.Over 50% of servicemen are working with Indian Armed forces.
Kunwar Omkar Singh Chauhan s/o Sri Kirat Singh happened to be a kind hearted Zamindar of the village during British period, who later donated most of his Zamindari land in Acharya Vinova Bhave's Bhoodan Yagna before the abolition of Zamindari. Even today their grand son Kr. Avdhesh P. Singh and the Great Grand Son Kr. Siddharth Singh are respected for their descendance and social work being undertaken by them for Social, Financial and Spiritual upliftment of villagers of Bhatani and other nearby villages. Their efforts were instrumental in getting a Govt. Primary Health Centre opened in the village in recent time.
