The village khambha gir situated in the abode of gir forest, surrounded with lush green trees of various species. the village is on the bank of small river Datpado which is flowing from the gir. the village has population of about 3000 people of diverse castes, creeds and religions. Khambha Gir sets an example of communal harmony,cooperation and consistency. Majority of the population is of Leuva Patel who are hard working, enterprising and co operative. The village possesses a primary school, a village panchayat, a dariy and Gauseva mandal. The sarpanch of the village is Jyantibhai p kotadia , known as JP who is young, energetic and enthusiastic . The village boasts of glorious past when the Jamadar Lalkha Bapu who courageously fought against the looters. it is known for the bold ladies like Raju Ma and Sanji Ma who defended the village against attack of Barvatia. The source of income of the villagers is agriculture.The farmers using latest techniques like sprinkle, tractors and thrashers get the maximum yield of groundnuts, onions, wheat, garlic and cotton.Today the village is rolling in the prosperity where you can find 20 tractors, 20 cars and 200 motor bikes.
Though it is in the remote corner of gujarat , Khambha is not lagging behind in education. The first graduate from this sweet village is Mr Harjibhai Nathabhai Kotadia who passes BA with Special English from LD ARTS COLLEGE Ahmedbadand presently working as an English teacher in higher secondary school in ahmedabad Toady there are hosts of engineers, NRIs and enterprenurs , diamond polishers, diamond business persons who deal in foreign countries.It is growing faster and faster in leaps and bounds keeping its glorious past in its chest.
One can see variety of birds and animals in the surrounding greenery. KHAMBHA GIR is frequently visited by the host of wild animals, particularly the Lion king. The villagers believe in rich harmony with wild life as a result there is not single event of poaching has been recorded so far. They try at their best to preserve fauna and flora of the area and one can enjoy sight of lions, tigers, Neel gay, wild deer and host of wild animals
