OverView of Shila Kheri
As per historical tax records, the village of Shila Kheri is believed to have come into existence around 200 250 years ago. According to local accounts, the story behind Shila Kheri is quite fascinating. The village was originally known as Kheri, meaning a small settlement. The residents were primarily farmers who paid taxes to the ruling authority. Over time, due to drought and other hardships, the villagers were unable to pay their taxes. As a result, tax collectors punished them harshly by beating them and confiscating their farmland. During this difficult period, Dada Silka Saroha, popularly known as Shila, came to their aid. He belonged to the Dhanak caste and was a resident of village Balana. He was a wealthy man who owned thousands of livestock, including goats, sheep, and horses. Dada Shila used to bring his large flocks to the grasslands of Kheri for grazing. When the villagers approached him for help, he generously agreed to pay their dues. It is said that he paid three years worth of taxes on behalf of the entire village. The people of Kheri, having no means to repay him, offered him ownership of the entire village land. However, Dada Shila humbly refused to accept any reward. Despite repeated attempts by the villagers to gift him the land, he declined every time. In the end, as a gesture of gratitude, the villagers renamed their village from Kheri to Shila Kheri in his honor. It is also believed that later, Dada Shila and his family moved to Mudlana village.Edit below overview about Shila Kheri
