The village Karauli Bangar was founded by Thakur Kanchan Singh Bhati, a Bhati Rajput, in late 1840s - early 1850s after he moved, along with his two younger brothers and the rest of the clan, from Jaisalmer, Rajasthan to the present day location in Uttar Pradesh where Karauli bangar is located. Some of the extended family members settled on the other side of river Yamuna, part of today's Haryana.

The name Karauli comes from district Karauli, Rajasthan where temple of Kaila Devi (kuldevi of Yaduvanshi clan, to which Bhatis belong) is situated. It is called 'bangar' since it was away from river Jamuna, and was less fertile as compared to 'Khadar', which is more fertile area close to any river. There is Karauli Khadar as well, also known as Badi Karauli, and both the villages are located next to each other.

Majority of the Rajput inhabitants are descendants of Kanchan Singh Bhati and his brothers. And rest are Parmar rajputs who are believed to have come from Garhwal area.

The village is connected to Noida and Bulandshahar via road and has a healthy population of approx. 2100 people. Primary occupation of the people has been agriculture and private sector jobs nowadays.
