OverView of Shivala
Shivala famous for late. Shri. Mahavir singh
chauhan (mla in utter pradesh goverment from 1971 to 1975) &
chairman of p.w.d.
Shivala is known by the earlier name of shivala khurd & or shivala
kalan since the 12th century. The name shivala covered not only the
village but the entire valley, as earlier mentioned that it was
established by thakur shiv singh chauhan in memorably of lord
shiva, according to the later manuscripts of prithviraj
raso chauhan belonged to the agnivansha group
of gujjars rajput deriving
their origin from a sacrificial fire-pit. chauhan was the penultimate
independent Hindu king to sit upon the
throne of delhi. Thakur mahavir singh was also inspired by their ancients.
Somehow he was very kind; moreover helpful for everyone who visits to their
haweli. Peoples had a very deep respect for him. He controlled much of
present-day gaumat, khair, gabhana, until chandaus boundries.
Thakur maharaj singh, thakur nandan singh, and thakur dhawal singh. He was the elder one in their family who carried the entire responsibilities for everyone. Nandan singh chauhan had joined indian navy as a brigadier, served for their country and died in london due to cancer couple of years ago. Seems like nobody can fulfil their space. Whenever he found spare time from their job. He visit entire village trying to meet with everyone like a mother eager to see her baby after such a long time.
There is a popular tale & and one of the subject for crucial family incident about chauhan family, said the death of their brother thakur maharaj singh & their servant jwala chamar.
This incident took place while servants fought with each other on their fields due to water discrepancy. Issue raised and an meeting taken place at haweli. After a long discussion there was no decision come out and meanwhile thakur mahavir singh lost his patience somehow and pulled up his gun and opened fire on his brother thakur maharaj singh & their servant jwala jatav. Both died on the spot at same time.
This was a height of stupidity people say all over the village and rum our spreads all over the valley.
Dark clouds gone away with the time and happiness comes.
Mahavir singh got elected for rajyasabha for barauli (west up) reign in 1971 and serve their people apparently and died in 1995.his son thakur raghvendra singh still following his father and helping people entirely. He has shifted aligarh with his family now a days.
Shivala is a well developed village and divided into three separate segments. Shivala khurd (formally called rambagh ) contains thakur population mostly is a native place of thakur mahavir singh. It has other casts like brahmin, vaishya, luhar, jatav & valmikies including Muslims.
It is also known by Pandit Nekram sharma son of pandit revti prasad sharma and the Great Grand father of Late Shri Harish Chandra Sharma well know social activist who died in 1970. pandit bhagwan swroop sharma a well known bjp leader and social activist also residing the same place.
This village also has neel kothi constructed in British reign now in ruins at near by rambagh. It has a famous radha krishna temple, mata rani madir etc.
Chaudhary Amani Singh
He is also referred as Raja Amani Singh because of his control over a vast area of Aligarh district and made to run parallel. Government in the region with the bitter opposition of Britishers. He was an audacious warrior and was skilled in wrestling, horse riding, sword fighting and spear fighting.
It is said by the local historians that he was so brave that he could fight with swords in both hands. while riding a horse without holding its rein. He was having a horse whose tales are cherished by the people of Aligarh and nearby districts, that horse was so ferocious when Amani sat on its back and fought in the battle, that horse itself also started killing Britishers.
Thakur Amani Singh united the both factions of Thakurela Jats which were Atthaeesi and Baeesi and made them fight against Britishers. It is an incident of 1857 when whole country was in fervour of revolt against British colonial empire. When Chauhan Rajputs of small estate Shivala in Khair tehsil of Aligarh district revolted under their leader Rao Bhopal Singh against Britishers. Then Britishers treacherously captured Rao Bhopal Singh and hanged him till death Chauhan Rajputs felt leaderless and called Jats of Lagsama under. Their leader Raja Amani Singh for help.It is a well known historical fact that Thakurela Jats of Lagsama were always fighting and ravaging Chauhan estate of Shivala and Chauhans were considered as their inherent enemies, but it was Raja Amani Singh who sank the traditional feud against Chauhans and went to help the Chauhans against Britishers and ravaged the areas of Koil(Aligarh) and saved the Chauhan rulers from the wrath of British aggression. British collector and Tehsildars escaped from Raja Amani Singh's attack and ran away from Aligarh.
Raja Amani Singh took the control of Aligarh and nearby region and made to run a parallel government in the Aligarh district.
In the freedom movement of 1857 Britishers in addition with Gwalior contingents and Sowars attacked Aligarh under Major Burtlon to subdue Thakur Amani Singh but his attacks were repelled for few months by Thakur Amani Singh. Thakur Amani Singh commanded his army to snatch the weapons of British and allied forces. He attacked and captured the Tehsils of Iglas, Khair and Koil. Britishers after failing various times retaliated in heavy numbers during rainy season which lead to destruction of match lock guns of Jat army under Thakur Amani Singh. He was captured by Britishers and trialed at Koil Magistrate office and hanged to death.
