The village of Gujjarwal, was founded by a Grewal Jatt, Chaudhri Gujjar Grewal in year 1469 AD. The Grewal Jatt Clans, have 33 villages around Gujjarwal, all located in Ludhiana District. The Grewal Jatts claim Chandela Rajput origin. By the time of Sixth Sikh Guru Hargobind Sahib Jee, the surrounding Grewal villages were already Sikhs. Guru Hargobind Sahib Jee, came to Gujjarwal in year 1631 AD. Chaudhri Fatuhi Grewal, who was Chaudhri of surrounding villages along with the village sangat came in the presence of Guru Hargobind Sahib Jee. In around Year 1760, Rai Mohammad Khan Manj, the Muslim Rajput Cheiftain of Raikot, Establised his Authority up to the city of Ludhiana. Gujjarwal also came under the rule of Raikot Cheiftains. Grewal Jatt Chaudhries took revenue tax, on the behalf of Raikot Chiefs. In 1806, Maharaja Ranjit Singh took this area under his control. In 1809 the area passed to British East India Company.
