Sarayamedu is not a real name of this village.The original tamil name of this village is saaram-medu(place of pillars(saaram) ,medu-high from plain).To construct the famous Thiruvennai nallur siva temple chola kings choose this place to store the stone pillars for long time and from here they used to mobilise the pillars to temple area to construct temple.As this place was little high due to these pillars on those days the name saaram medu came to exist but today it termed as sarayamedu.Tamil activist please change this name in gazete to retain the history of this small village. The village is well connected with road and 24/7 access to all basic needs.The main occupation of the villagers are agriculture.
