CHOCKALINGAMPUDUR - A beautiful village.

LOCATION: It is located in India at Tamil nadu, Sivagangai dist at Sakkotai  and near to Karaikudi. also people're called shortly as Chockanendhal.

Irrigation: This village covered by lakes (Kanmai) at all corners. that lakes're Cho pudhur kanmai, Edangi kanmai, Pukkudi kanmai, Malukkan kanmai and Alathupatti kanmai. the main business here is Farming former. but this area is dry land, because the only water source is rain  so when raining, collect all the waters in Kanmais and use it for farming. if insufficient rain no proper farming. also we have four pools (Kulam) two for drinking and two for bathing and for general use. the water sources to the pool same as lakes. ( our lake fully covered by Naval trees. when fruit seasons that will help some families to as living bread, many outsiders Will come and plug fruits and sells.) during raining collect waters through channels the rain often failure to do their periods.due to that now days not so good to do farming. and Hindu temples placed. 

 

Education: In our village we have a primary school(Sakkotai oorachi ondriya thodakka palli) up to fifth standard. after that we have to go our neighbour town Attangudi ( 2km far), Konapattu (4km for) or Kanadukathan (6km for) to study for high school. now days few Nursery Schools providing education with transport for the children from in and around the village's neighbour towns. for higher study we can go for Karaikudi (Alagappa University), Pallthur (Sitha Laksmi ladies college), Chettinadu (Annamalai Polytechnic) and Thiruppathur (Arumugam college).

 

Life Style: Our village has around 250  families are living, It contain with many casts.. our people're live together with harmony and good relationships. we don't have any variation or partiality. for example: Mostly we're calling to one another by relation method such as Mappillai, Machan, Pangali, Mamamn, Athai, Akkal, Annan, Thankachi, Thammbi Etc. not only calling like this, also go forward every houses function, ceremonials events  attend and do to one another theirs present gifts as Maman Seer, Bankali seer. so I can proudly declare that my village is free from cast problems and a good model village too. so not necessary any Samathuvapuram here. also another benchmark is environmental policy. our village always very clean and neat.  and our village's Elders support.

 

Employment opportunities: We're behind in this matter. because our side don't have any factories or big industrial. so most of us  depended  for Overseas jobs. almost  our 75% youths're working in overseas. maximum we're chosen to working in Singapore.   Around our neighbour towns some small business are on going in good manner. especially in Tails work and Carpentry work. Attangudi is famous for this works.

We 're Specialised in  Traditional Cooking. yes our village has some traditional cooking masters and masthries. they're special in Chettynad food and others types of food too.  some times they're invited to other states and overseas too. they are original chettinad cooks, they will provide the real taste of that food. if any one wants you can call for your functions, marriages and all events.
