Vitla Town Panchayat is formed in the year 24.06.2015.The area covered by the TP is 20.37 Sq.Km.Vitla town Located in the coastal belt of Karnataka. â Vitla Townâ is in Bantwal Taluk of Dakshina Kannada. From district head quarters it is 42 kms and from taluq head quarters it is 15kms away. The majority of the population are Hindus, Muslims and Catholics, and the main languages spoken are Tulu, Kannada, Beary, Konkani, and Malayalam.The town has been formed by the combination of 18 wards. Vitla is a town with high humidity and temperature ranging 23'C to 32"C . Agriculture is the main occupation of people in and around Vitla Town. In the amidst of greenery area fields, coconut farms and dense forest of Kalenjimale hills . Vitla is surrounded by Veerakamba, Kepu, Vitla Padnoor and Vitla Mudnoor villages. The village is famous for the Panchaligeshwara Temple.There is a regional station of Central Plantation Crops Research Institute (CPCRI) which conducts research on areca nuts, an important commercial crop in the area.
