Karunyapuram is a village where people were converted in to Christians nearly 70 years ago the main occupation of those people is Farming, but as days gone they became leaving farming and started doing business and job, the nearby village to Karunyapuram is Kalanthapanai. NH-47 to Karunyapuram is through Kalanthapanai so their main transportation is through Kalanthapanai. Vallioor is the main Railway station which these people prefer for railway transportation, most of the Karunyapuram land is red soil so that soil are rich in Plantain, coconut cultivation the vegetables which the farmer cultivate is taken to Kavalkinaru Market.

There is a church at west end of Karunyapuram its a CSI church where all the Christian people go during every Sundays, there is a road extending from Kalathapanai crossing Karunyapuram to Rosmiyapuram which those people use to go to Rosmiyapuram and from there people used to go to mountains to collect woods, graze cows etc. south of Karunyapuram is Paddy fields to cultivate Rice and a pond named Sanneeri, West there is western ghats mountains.
