SRI VAIGAL S.GNANASKANDHAN was a renowned Carnatic Musician.  It is amazing, how this little hamlet , went on to become world renowned with this one name.  He was born in Gurukkal clan(Temple priests) at VAIGAL on May 4th 1936 , went on to qualify in Music from Kumbakonam College and there after from Annamalai University.  This humble village produced one of the finest musician, who was self less and has left back his music lineage with very many popular and otherwise youth.  Sikkil gurucharan, Gayathri Gireesh, V.Shankaranarayanan and the names go on.  He retired as a Music Producer from ALL INDIA RADIO , Chennai.  He was a master in Thevaaram and Thiruppugazh apart from his mastery in Carnatic Music.  He is a proud disciple of some of the doyens of carnatic world such as SEMMANGUDI SRI.R. SRINIVASA IYER AND SRI DHANDAPANI DESIKAR.  Vaigal .Sri.S.Gnanaskadhan passed away on May 3rd 2015 .
