Ballia has got the status of subdivisional town. It is of surrounded by a good number of villages viz Sadanandpur, Fatehpur , Bhagatpur, Manserpur, Parval Tola, Meer Alipur,Sanha, Janipur, Diha, Dumaria, Saadpur, Tetri, Vishanpur, BARBIGHI, Husaina, PartarpurHussainichak Hussainichak, Bariyarpur and so on. It is situated between the two rivers the Ganga to the south and the Budhi Gandhi to the north. The villages and disarms namely Shadipur,Parmanandpur, Asarfa Diara, Lal Diara, Bahadurnagar etc are located along the bank of the Ganga river that at times causes flood, ravaging the adjoining areas. It is but natural that majority of the villagers are depend on farming and cattle rearing for their livelihood. Previously, Ballia had been the Parliamentary Constituency and the Assembly segment but now, is the part of Begusarai constituency and Sahebpur Kamal assembly segment respectively. Ballia is known for the cordial harmony between the people of the two communities, Hindus and Muslims. It is densely populated. Guava production has given it a different recognition in the state, BIHAR. Ballia is unfortunate in the sense it has no small or large scale factory to facilitate its progress. Ballia is academically progressive and politically aware. Most of the downtown people are businessmen. R S A S higher Secondary School situated in the heart of Ballia town is the pride of the area that was established in the year 1942,a historic year, when the Do or Die as well as the Quit India movement started under the leadership of Gandhiji. Sitaram Agrawal was supposed to be the rebellious freedom filter of Ballia. Taj hasan is the first IPS officer who hails from Ballia. Shri Narayan Yadav and Dr Tanveer Hasan has been the political representatives for more than three decades. Recently Surendra Vivek has gained a good deal of popularity among the common mass as a sociopolitical figure.Gitesh Sharman, Dr Shabbir Hasan, Zafar Habib, Bekhud Sahib, Anil Patang, Vasudev Saras and so on are the popular lit-cultural figures who have established their identity at the National level in English, Hindi, Urdu. Every literary figure mentioned here demands separate and detailed description. A lot is needed to be done for a rapid development of the town before it deserves the status to be a district.
